How Massage & Manual Therapy May Help

Pain, muscular tension and restricted movement can affect everyday activities, work, exercise and overall wellbeing. Massage and manual therapy may help ease discomfort, improve mobility and support recovery by addressing the muscles and soft tissues contributing to your symptoms. Treatment does not have to be prompted by pain or injury. You may also book simply to relax, unwind and make time for your general wellbeing

Every treatment begins with a consultation and is tailored to your individual needs. If this is your first visit, please choose an appointment of 60 minutes or longer to allow sufficient time for consultation, assessment and treatment.

Back Discomfort

Back discomfort may be associated with muscular tension, postural strain, physical work, prolonged sitting or exercise. Treatment focuses on the relevant muscles and soft tissues to help reduce tension and support more comfortable movement.

Neck and Shoulder Tension

Neck and shoulder tension can develop through desk work, driving, stress, repetitive activity or physical exertion. A tailored treatment may help ease muscular tightness and improve movement through the neck, shoulders and upper back.

Sports-Related Muscular Concerns

Massage and manual therapy may support recovery from training and sporting activity by addressing muscular tightness, fatigue and restricted movement. Treatment can also form part of an ongoing maintenance or recovery routine.

Repetitive Strain and Overuse

Repeated movements at work, during sport or in everyday life can contribute to discomfort in the hands, wrists, forearms, elbows and shoulders. Treatment may help manage the associated muscular tension and improve comfort and mobility.

Sciatic-Type Symptoms

Pain or discomfort travelling from the lower back or buttock into the leg can have several possible causes. Massage may help ease associated muscular tension, but it does not treat every cause of sciatic symptoms. Further medical assessment may be recommended where appropriate.

Elbow, Forearm and Wrist Discomfort

Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow and other overuse concerns can cause discomfort around the elbow and forearm. Treatment may focus on the surrounding muscles and soft tissues to help ease tension and support comfortable movement.

Recovery Following Injury

Once it is safe and appropriate to do so, massage and manual therapy may support recovery by addressing muscular tightness, reduced mobility and compensatory movement patterns. Medical clearance may be required following a significant injury or surgical procedure.

Relaxation and General Wellbeing

Massage can also be enjoyed without a particular pain or injury concern. A treatment provides an opportunity to slow down, ease general muscular tension and enjoy restorative time away from everyday demands. Pressure and techniques can be adapted to create a calming treatment focused entirely on relaxation and general wellbeing.

A Tailored Approach

Your treatment will be adapted according to your consultation, comfort and individual needs. Techniques may include deep-tissue massage, hot stones, dry needling, myofascial cupping, Indian head massage techniques, relaxation massage, assisted stretching and PNF stretching, where indicated. Where appropriate, individualised exercise guidance and home-care recommendations may also be provided to support mobility, strength and ongoing self-management.

Massage and manual therapy are not substitutes for medical diagnosis or treatment. If your symptoms require further assessment, treatment may be postponed and you may be advised to contact your GP, physiotherapist or another suitable healthcare professional.

Not sure which appointment to choose? A 60-minute treatment is the recommended minimum for your first visit.
